Dominic West is reportedly ‘concerned’ Lily James will fan the flames of the drama surrounding the pair after pictures of them appearing to enjoy a cosy weekend together in Rome surfaced last year.

Dominic and wife Catherine Fitzgerald released a bizarre staged photoshoot and statement shortly afterwards declaring their marriage is fine.

However it was later reported that she had banned her husband from contacting Lily, who he appears opposite in the BBC drama The Pursuit of Love.

The Downton Abbey star has also kept schtum on what really happened, but suggested there ‘is a lot to say’ in a recent interview.

A source has now told The Sun that although Dominic hasn’t contacted Lily, ‘there is concern about what she is going to say’.

‘She’s remained tight-lipped but her version of events could be very different to the one he told his wife,’ they continued.

‘Lily is clearly hurt about being hung out to dry publicly, so it’s likely she will set the record straight at some point.’

The Pursuit of Love – replacing Line of Duty on Sunday nights – is an adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s novel, and follows Lily’s Linda Radlett on her search for love and marriage. Dominic stars as Linda’s father Matthew.

It was filmed from July to October of last year, with the now-infamous trip between the two taking place soon after filming wrapped.

During a recent interview with Metro.co.uk and other press, Rebecca star Lily spoke about how ‘radical’ it felt playing Linda – a character determined to forge her own in path in spire of the restrictions placed on women at the time it is set.

‘Everything about her I believe is radical, because she lives life so honestly,’ she explained.

‘She’s unafraid. She has all this passion and fire and energy but no structure to put it into because she wasn’t educated and the restraint upon their choices was so great, and yet she still carves out this life following her own heart and making great sacrifices and great personal loss. There’s a courage to be who she is that feels radical, even now.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Dominic West for comment.
