Gemma Chan stunned in a dazzling jewel encrusted Zuhair Murad look at the Eternals premiere in London on Wednesday night (October 27).

The 38-year-old actress joined many of her co-stars on the red carpet while promoting their new Marvel film.

In a series of interviews, Gemma opened up about rejoining the MCU in her second role.

While speaking to press about the opportunity, Gemma admitted that she was just as surprised as fans about landing the role of Sersi, which is her second Marvel role.

She had first starred as Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel. Sersi is an empathetic member of the Eternals who has come to care deeply for humanity during her many years on Earth.

“To be honest, I was as surprised as anyone else. I was not expected to be back. But yeah, I was pleasantly surprised,” Gemma told ScreenRant. “I obviously jumped at the chance, and to get to work with Richard [Madden] and the rest of the amazing cast, it’s great.”

She added that one of the perks was that “this time I don’t have to be painted blue, so I didn’t have to do the 2:30am or 3am call times to be four hours sprayed with body paint. So, that was good.”

Producer Nate Moore also opened up about Gemma’s casting, revealing that she was one of the last main characters to be cast.

“Sersi was a character that it took us a long time to find and Gemma again wasn’t necessarily the first person we thought of, but as we were reading people and I do remember the point where we said maybe should we read Gemma, is that weird?” he recalled.

He added, “Is our audience going to go with us or are they going to say no? But we read her and she was perfect for us we said, well, let’s see. But you know I think if Minn-Erva’s not blue I don’t know if we would have pulled that trigger.”

Eternals will be in theaters on November 5.
