If you recall, the 44-year-old actress starred opposite Sophie Turner and Michael Fassbender in the film, which was delayed multiple times over script rewrites.

Recalling her time on the X-Men film, and revealed that she didn’t know who she was playing in the film until it premiered on screen.

“I think the studio was bought at a certain point,” Jessica remembered, before admitting, “I didn’t even know what my character’s name was until I saw the film. What’s happening?”

Dark Phoenix focused on a young Jean Grey, who starts to spiral out of control. During a rescue mission in outer space, Jean is nearly killed when she’s hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. The X-Men must now band together to save her soul and battle aliens that want to use Grey’s new abilities to rule the galaxy.

The early drafts of the film featured the Hellfire Club and the return of Emma Frost, before being replaced by the Skrulls. Ultimately, the D’Bari were decided upon to be in the movie.

Jessica played Vuk, the leader of the D’Bari people who escaped their planet before it was destroyed. Vuk sought to harness the power of the dark phoenix that Jean Grey had absorbed.

While the movie wasn’t a huge success, it didn’t defer her from future fantasy movies. However, she’d love to supervillain over a superhero.

“I don’t want to be a superhero because if you’re a superhero, you’re doing ten films,” she said. “I don’t want to sign a ten-year contract.”
