Sam Asghari has spoken out amid Britney Spears’ conservatorship battle to voice his opinion on the documentaries about her life.

The actor, 27, took to Instagram to tell his followers that the recent documentaries had left a ‘bad aftertaste’ in the couple’s mouths.

He wrote: ‘Apparently my opinion has increased in value over [the] last few days,’ alluding to a comment he left on Netflix’s Instagram post about their conservatorship documentary, Britney vs Spears, which will be released on September 28.

He continued: ‘Past docs left bad aftertaste. I’m hopeful this one will be respectful. I don’t blame CNN, BBC or Netflix (which got me through lockdowns) for airing them because as an actor I tell other people’s stories too.

‘I question producers who made them “just to shed light” without input or approval from subject.’

Sam then praised the #FreeBritney movement for campaigning on the star’s behalf, adding: ‘Any credit for light being shed should go to #freebritney.’

Britney, 39, is currently battling to have the conservatorship she has been under since 2008 lifted, recently speaking out in court to detail the restrictions she has had on her life in the past 13 years.

Her father, Jamie Spears, 69, had been co-conservator but filed a petition to end the conservatorship, confirmed by Page Six, with the next hearing in the case due to take place on September 29.

Since restrictions on her conservatorship have gradually lifted in recent weeks, Britney and Sam announced their engagement on September 12, and Sam also showed off the diamond ring he had presented her on his story.

The couple didn’t let the documentaries get them down for long, as Sam later shared a video of Britney giving him a face mask as the pair chilled at home.

He joked: ‘What she makes me do,’ as Britney slathered on a thick white face cream from Clinique all over his face.
