The new season finds the actor playing Matthew, Joe and Love’s neighbor, whose wife goes missing. He starts monitoring Joe and Love using surveillance cameras, and figures out that Love likely killed his wife.
“I do think he is driven by grief as much as guilt,” he told EW of his character’s motives.
“He had let the marriage dissolve. And who knows whose fault that was. I think that he obviously loves his wife and loved his wife, but that he let it go drives his guilt a bit,” he continued.
By the end, Matthew shows up at his neighbor’s home in the finale, where he finds Joe paralyzed. And instead of helping Joe, he leaves him there, seemingly to die at his wife’s hand.
“I think he got enough out of that moment,” Matthew said, revealing that they also shot a few different takes for the scene, which found him walking away and reuniting with his son.
“Them coming together more at the end is a good thing, and I think that’s ultimately his goal,” Scott said, as most don’t live after knowing the truth about Joe and Love.
“That’s good, right? That doesn’t happen much. We survived, so that’s good,” he said of the conclusion. And You fans will be happy to hear this news!
