All the Covid hotspots in England as 85 per cent of areas see rise in infections

Covid cases have risen in 85 per cent of areas across England in the last seven days, new data shows.

Of the 315 local regions across the country, latest figures reveal that 269 have seen an increase in infections.

Comparatively, 43 – or 14 per cent – have seen a fall.

And just three areas (one per cent) are unchanged, according to official statistics dating from the week running up to June 19.

Britain as a whole recorded 16,135 cases on Wednesday – the highest total since the beginning of February.

The Delta variant remains dominant across the nation and people are being urged to continue to get the vaccine when available.
