Carole Baskin won’t feature in Tiger King 2 and bans use of footage of her

Exclusive:

Carole Baskin says she is hoping not to see any footage of herself in Tiger King 2 after refusing producers permission to show footage of her, but admits she expects them to still be hateful towards her

Carole Baskin refused permission for Tiger King producers to re-use footage of her for the second series

Carole Baskin has refused to be a part of Tiger King 2 and has even told producers they do not have her permission to use any footage they have of her.

The second series of Netflix’s hit show is set to be released in November, but the 60-year-old activist wants no part in it.

She was far from impressed with how she was portrayed in the original series and claimed she was “unprepared for the level of malice” she faced from the producers.

Speaking to The Mirror, Carole said: “Initially, we were told it was going to be a serious documentary about the abuse of big cats and when we saw the trailers for Tiger King we were like ‘who’s doing that show?’

“We talked to all the different producers we were working with because nobody was working on something that was making Joe Exotic look like a fun-loving guy.”

She continued to say she binged watched the show and wasn’t happy with how producers made her out to be “some kind of gold-digging, home-wrecking murderer”.

While Carole shunned the opportunity to be in the next instalment, she admits that she will watch it – but only because she expects to face further criticism once it’s been aired.

“I’ll have to watch it because I expect that they’re gonna be just as hateful in Tiger King 2 as they are in Tiger King 1,” she said.

“And the reason that I expect that is because i know some of the people that they have been filming.”

She continued: “They don’t have any of my permission to use any of the footage they shot in the original filming for this Tiger King 2, so I’m hoping not to see any footage of me in Tiger King 2 because of that fact.

“When we signed the release form it was for a documentary, I don’t think what they did was a documentary. I think it was a reality show that wasn’t very real. But then, I don’t think that gave them carte blanche to continue trash talking me for as long as they want to keep coming up with these type of shows.

Carole expects Tiger King 2 to be “hateful” towards her despite refusing the show permission to use footage of her

“I’m really hoping that they choose to take the road to not include me at all in Tiger King 2.”

The first series saw 64 million people tune in within the first month of it being available to stream, according to reports.

Carole believes that the way they decided to create the documentary shows that the producers are “putting greed ahead of saving the tiger”.

She added that the end product was certainly not the pilot they originally showed her and says they must have changed their path after the series was originally turned down by CNN.
