Emmerdale’s Kim Tate suggested her ‘dead’ son Jamie Tate was still alive, after he appeared to be killed in a car accident just weeks ago
Kim Tate remained determined to track down her missing son on Emmerdale on Monday night, weeks after his apparent death.
Jamie was last seen losing control of his car and driving off the road, into the lake, after narrowly avoiding Chas Dingle’s oncoming car.
He had driven onto the wrong side of the road and came out of nowhere, distracted by an incoming call from Gabby Thomas – the mother of his unborn child.
He swerved to avoid hitting Chas’ car, only to drive off the road and through bushes, before his car ploughed into a huge lake.
Jamie’s car sank quickly out of sight, with there being no sign of him being alive in the aftermath.
But when the car was removed from the water, speculation began that he had survived after he was clearly not inside.
Since then, Kim has refused to believe her son has died, despite everyone else believing this to be the case.
On Monday’s visit to the Dales, Kim was seen reaching out to a private investigator as she continued to search for her missing son.
She told former daughter-in-law Andrea Tate that Jamie had made contact, convincing her he was not dead – while she also revealed his secret fake death plan that she believed he is following.
Kim believes Jamie survived the crash and actually planned it all to flee the village, in the hope no one would go looking for him.
Suggesting it was “like mother like son” after her own fake deaths in recent years, she suggested he and ex-lover Dawn Taylor had done it to escape the village without a trace.
She told Andrea: “Jamie had all this planned, he knew that lake was full of tributaries. Eventually that’s why everyone would assume the body couldn’t be found.”
Andrea was not convinced her ex was alive, with Kim soon telling her someone had sent her flowers and she believed it was Jamie.
She then detailed how Jamie had stolen thousands from the vets he worked at, and wasn’t using his credit card to avoid leaving a trace.
Kim then predicted it was all to start a new life with Dawn and that she too would disappear in a few months.
She told Andrea: “I know what he’s capable of, which is partly my fault… like mother like son.”
Kim refused to tell Jamie’s daughter Millie he was dead while she believed he had survived, and was now trying to prove this.
She spoke to the investigator on the phone asking them to keep on looking for her missing son, and to do more than just ask around.
Kim said: “Jamie is out there somewhere, find him.”
But is she on to something and is she right about Jamie, or will she tragically soon learn Jamie really is dead?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
