A woman has sparked a family argument by refusing to babysit her sister’s child after he lied about how he had treated her – leading to his mum threatening to call the police.

She explained that her sister works a lot and often can’t afford a babysitter for her 11-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son, so she has been helping out with childcare.

Recently, when she was looking after the children, her nephew got “mad” when she wouldn’t let him jump on the sofa and warned him that he could get hurt, causing the boy throwing a tantrum.

But when his mum arrived home, he “starts suddenly bawling his eyes out and running towards her” despite being perfectly fine moments before.

She said: “He immediately starts on a rant about how I had a man in the house, and how neither him or his sister had eaten at all that day.

“My sister was rightfully p***ed, and started asking questions. I shook my head, said he was lying, and that she had cameras so we should probably sit down and watch them. She said no, and that I needed to go before she called the police.”

A few hours after she left the house, her sister rang to apologise and said she had watched the footage and saw no man had visited, as well as her son refusing to eat the dinner she had cooked.

When her sister asked when she would come and see them again, she informed her that she would no longer be babysitting, leading to an argument between the pair as her sibling said that he is only seven-years-old and “kids lies all the time.”

She added: “Our mother thinks I’m being ridiculous for being mad at a kid, but it’s more than that. I could’ve gotten in trouble if the police had shown up and he was saying what he said.”

After taking to Reddit for advice, people defended her decision to refuse to babysit again, as one wrote: “You told her to check the cameras. She refused and threatened you with the police. She doesn’t get to back track now and pretend everything is fine.”

And second wrote: “Most seven year olds wouldn’t lie to that severity. His mother is allowing him to manipulate her and even threatened you with the police. She has already shown she will take his word over yours, so there is no reason you should watch him again.”
