Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City could turn to Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema in their hunt for a forward and want Pedri in return should Raheem Sterling move to Barcelona

A new striker remains high on manager Pep Guardiola’s list of priorities, and the club is now said to have made contact with Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema.
One player who appears set to depart the club is winger Raheem Sterling, with Guardiola’s former club Barcelona said to be very interested in bringing the England international to the Camp Nou.
And the club could be set to sanction the move, if they can get one of world football’s hottest young properties in return.

Sterling swap deal
Pep Guardiola has proposed a swap deal with Barcelona following their interest in taking Raheem Sterling to Spain, it is reported.
According to El Nacional, City would like to receive 18-year-old wonderkid Pedri in return.
The young Barca star shined for his country at Euro 2020 and has just been crowned Golden Boy.
Pedri is also reported to have sparked interest from Bayern Munich, with the report stating: “Guardiola is another admirer of the former UD Las Palmas player, and would give the OK to the departure of Sterling, if in return he lands the young Canarian.”
The same newspaper in Spain claims that City are interested in bringing Karim Benzema to the Premier League.
El Nacional report s that following Harry Kane’s downturn in form, City have ‘forgotten about him’ and have now ‘focused on Madrid’s number 9, who is to their complete liking’.
Benzema is said to be ‘very receptive to the possibility of leaving for the Premier League’, the report adds.
He told BT Sport: “When Liverpool are at their best they kind of leave a hole up front in the middle for the runs to come inside. I’m not sure Mohamed Salah would get as many goals if Haaland was in the team.
“It’s an unbelievable prospect but I think Manchester City would be the likely destination.”
