A McDonald’s delivery customer says she was put out after the driver reportedly left a voucher for a weight loss club in the takeaway bag.
The TikTok user, whose account name is Soozieque, ordered a McDonalds on DoorDash, a US food delivery company.
Some delivery drivers have reportedly been using the opportunity to promote their side businesses within the orders they deliver by including coupons or other promotional material with the takeaway.
But Soozieque thought the choice of coupon that accompanied her McDonald’s was way off.
When she received her delivery, she found a promotional offer for a weight loss club, reports Fox News.
According to the TikTok video, the woman thinks the DoorDash driver put the promotional card into the takeaway bag.
The McDonald’s bag was taped shut, but there was still enough room to slip a card in.
It is against the terms of service at DoorDash for drivers to promote or sell personal products while they are doing deliveries for a company.
People took to the comments of the video to share their disgust at the implications of the weight loss coupon.
“’Lose weight, ask me how,’ as you ordered McDonald’s, like what kind of low ball?” said one user.
Another person wrote: “Usually I’m against leaving negative reviews but I’ll give you a pass for this one.”
Others were more sympathetic to the driver and thought it was probably just a coincidence and the driver didn’t mean anything by it.
“This person is probably just struggling to make ends meet and doing whatever they can to make money, don’t internalise it,” someone said.
