Katya Jones has found a clever way to repurpose her Strictly Come Dancing outfits.

The professional dancer – who is partnered with swimmer Adam Peaty on this series of the BBC One show – has revealed her and the costume design work together to upcycle her outfits to make sure she’s getting the most use out of them.

Katya revealed she wore the same outfit for her cha cha on Saturday night, as well as in a group dance with her fellow professionals.

“You guys know how much I love reusing, repurposing and upcycle things in order to be more sustainable,” she shared on her Instagram story.

“Here’s one brilliant example of how my outfit from the “new pros” dance got reused for our ChaCha last night.

“Slight changes in the decorations colour, styling and Boom! This makes me really happy. And yet another proof of how amazing our wardrobe team is.”

Katya previously recalled how her body is always the centre of attention, and how she was targeted by cruel body-shaming trolls when she went from a size six to a size eight over Christmas last year.

Speaking on Aimee Fuller’s Monday Mile podcast, she said: “I see comments. People are saying, ‘Glad to see she’s losing some weight. She was looking a little bit chunky.’

“It’s like, ‘I went from a size six to a size eight — and you’re calling me chunky?’

“Mentally it’s not an easy place to be. You’re expected to be that certain shape that represents a dancer.”

She explained how the comments made her question herself for a moment.

“I love Christmas. I love socialising. I had cake, it made me happy! I try to have a positive mental attitude. I tried to look inside,” she said.

“I try to do what is good for me. I know when I am fit and healthy, I am energised.”

Last year, Katya was partnered with Nicola Adams in the first same-sex couple in the show’s history, but they had to pull out of the programme after Katya tested positive for Covid.

Nicola said at the time: “Hey guys! I’m absolutely devastated my Strictly journey has come to an end so soon. I had so much more to give and so many people to win this for! But I just want to say a huge thank you to Katya for being the best dance partner anyone could ask for.

“She pushed me way out of my comfort zone and it’s been an incredible experience.

“I’m gutted to be out of the competition but in these unprecedented times and as frustrating as it is, the COVID measures in place are to keep everyone safe, and I’m doing what I can to help.”
